Events in Cheshire
Home to a rich variety of events, Cheshire attracts visitors from across the world to attend its assorted shows, fairs, festivals, meetings and performances.
If you are a keen gardener you will already be aware of the prestigious RHS Flower Show at Tatton Park, which takes place near Knutsford each July. But the county also hosts other major garden events, such as the Arley Flower Show and Ness Garden Enthusiasts’ Day.
Connoisseurs of fine cuisine will already be aware of the Nantwich Food and Drink Festival with over 2,000 products to sample, or the Chester Food and Drink Festival that boasts more than 80 exhibitors.
For lovers of the arts, there are music and literature festivals, outdoor orchestral and theatre performances and even opera, set in a converted barn in Cheshire’s deep, verdant countryside.
The Cheshire Show is a highlight of the year for the county’s rural community, while Chester Races and Arley Hall Horse Trials are important equestrian events.
Elsewhere in the county Thundersprint brings a motorcycle spectacular to the centre of Northwich; popular antique fairs reflect Cheshire’s rich heritage and comparative affluence; and snowdrop walks provide a welcome hint of spring, in the depths of winter.
